Chris did an incredible job of restoring our front railings and gate, they honestly look brand new! He was lovely to deal with, the quote was incredibly reasonable, and he finished the job quickly with minimal disruption and no mess left behind. We will definitely use Painted Black again in the future, and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him.
Chris responded quicky to my emailed request for sanding and painting my garden railings despite being on holiday, and visited soon after his return to complete a very reasonable quote. From first to last he was friendly while totally professional, enormously hard working and great to have around, attending to my question and inspiring confidence. Chris did an amazing job of transforming our rusted, flaky railings here in Linlithgow. He cleaned everything up beautifully as he progressed the job, even vacuumed the grass where the dust and flaked paint fell! His attention to detail is fabulous and what a personable guy he is too. We have now used Painted Black three times – once for our railings, once for our safety bars and recently for our internal rooms. Each time it’s been a really positive experience. For our latest project Chris painted three internal rooms. Each room was prepped carefully, with wide masking tape around every single socket and switch, all furniture covered in dust sheets and carpets covered carefully. They prepped all the walls with undercoat and two coats of our chosen colours. The thing I love about Chris and his work is that there’s never any drama. He arrives, is respectful of our house (blue-booties for his outdoor shoes) and just gets on quietly with the job – never any loud music (useful as we both WFH) – even though he’s quite the musical genius (Google it😊). He works well to a schedule and was complete within the timeframe that he’d given us – amazing as we’d asked him to go above and beyond with the pesky undercoat. When he came to price up the job he also noticed some of the skirting needed a bit of TLC and did a great job caulking, sanding and painting. It’s lovely to see the Painted Black blackboard outside an increasing number of properties in the area. We’ll be using him again before the year’s out as he’s just so lovely and so reliable. Chris and Nick have totally restored my railings - which hadn’t been painted in at least 40 years, based on the best estimate from neighbours who have lived here a lot longer than me. They started with a thorough strip-back of the rusting, peeling layers of paint - proper prep with angle grinder, wire wool, scrapers, sandpaper - the full works - which took them around four days. They were so tidy throughout from start to finish, took great care over my property (and my adjoining neighbours) with a really good clean up at the end of each day. The railings look as good as new.
